NEW YEAR CARD 2021

In 2020 Prince Harry stepped down from royal duties.

In January Chinese authorities announced the outbreak of a new type of pneumonia in Wuhan.  Within weeks infections were springing up world wide and  WHO declared the corona virus a pandemic. Lockdowns began in country after country. With quarantines imposed everywhere travel ground to a near halt and masking became compulsory virtually worldwide. 

The UK withdrew from Europe making Brexit official. In the US Joe Biden led in the presidential primaries and Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years.  George Floyd was killed by police and officer Chauvin charged with second degree murder. California and Oregon had the worst fires ever with millions of acres destroyed. Trump declared a presidential win and demanded that voting stop but Biden was eventually certified winner.

Pfizer and Moderna announced their new vaccines 90% effective. Amidst much controversy vaccinations began for health workers and the elderly. 

By now corona had claimed 1,700,000 lives globally and the whole world entered 2021 in an air of huge uncertainty and trepidation ………….
