NEW YEAR CARD 2020

In 2019 President Trump was impeached on two charges, Theresa May resigned after failure to get a Brexit agreement passed and Boris Johnson succeeded her. Japanese Emperor Akahito abdicated after thirty years on the throne. Fire destroyed the roof and spire of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.

Protests broke out in Hong Kong and China landed the first spacecraft on the ‘dark side’ of the moon.

Closer to home, after a difficult and troubling transition, Ingrid and I had started to settle in to our new home after the move. We were feeling much more positive about the new life ahead of us and, blissfully unaware of what lay ahead, started planning travels to Japan for the year to come.

Leaving 2019 in much more positive mood the card has gone back to an amusing surreality and illusion.
