In 2017 North Korea launched a ballistic missile and accusations of ethnic cleansing in Myanmar emerged. Against a background of accusations of Russia having interfered in the elections Donald Trump is inaugurated. Amidst a very acrimonious divide of opinions Britain triggered article 50 making its intention to depart the EEC official. Global warming continued unabated and President Trump announced withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement. The Harvey Weinstein scandal broke and the deadliest mass shooting in America to date left 59 dead and 500 injured in Las Vegas.  I saw 2017 as a maze full of illusory and impossible twists and turns to be negotiated, bordered on one side by neglect and on the other an uncertain future shrouded in mist.
