On the left you can see the original cover design. When I produced this I had no idea that the cover would have so much addition typography. The editors insisted that I remove the word “ILLUSION”. This left no support for the bucket beam. To remove the beam and bucket would have weakened the illusion. Publication deadlines meant I had to find a more or less overnight solution that didn’t require re-working the whole image and which carried an element of illusion of its own. The final design, whilst still intriguing, is to my mind much less intriguing.
