The architecture was created in Trimble Sketchup 3D, textured in Photoshop and combined with photographs. An interesting aspect of compositing is the ability to play huge tricks with scale. The monumental crucifix is, in reality, just 20 cms or 8” high!
The construction used in this image, where a series of arches or columns share a common plane at their tops and different planes at their foot was a favourite of the wonderful Flemish artist Jos de Mey. Although the viewpoints of this elegantly simple example of his and mine are radically different, the construction is essentially the same.
