“Pool” was my first ever attempt at an illusion. I was still learning the basics of the software as well as feeling my way towards a technique for creating illusions photographically. These were the days when digital cameras were 640 x 480 and dual processors and a GB of RAM made you a power user!

It is pretty primitive and the non photographic elements, such as the tiling, don’t look convincing.

However, no-one should be ashamed of first attempts and it is still an amusing illusion.

This is a very simple form of a construction that is a favourite of the great Oscar Reutersvärd and of which he has produced many variations.
