The architecture for this image was created using 3D software and then combined with photographs.


The monumental crucifx in the foreground is a photograph. In reality it is just 20 cms or 8” high!

The construction used in this image, where a series of arches or columns share a common plane at their tops and different planes at their foot, is found in many illusions. On the right is an elegantly simple example from the wonderful Flemish artist Jos de Mey. Although the two viewpoints of his image and mine are radically different, the construction is essentially the same.
